Optional automatic distance control

Working together with the radar-controlled Front Assist traffic monitoring system, the optional automatic distance control alerts you to hazards before they become real danger.

The system immediately detects if traffic ahead slows down and automatically reduces your speed. If you are driving too close to the car in front, it will warn you in two stages. First, with visual and acoustic signals, and then with a short braking jolt. If necessary, the system will bring your car to a complete halt

The Adaptive Cruise Control brakes and accelerates the car within a speed range pre-set by the driver.

It does this in conjunction with the Front Assist system which primes the brakes if it senses a collision is likely, so shortening the stopping distance when the driver hits the break pedal.

Optional Park Assist

We developed a unique parallel parking, steering assistant called Park Assist, enabling automatic parking at the touch of a button.

The optional Park Assist system works by using sensors mounted in the front bumpers together with parking sensors front and rear.

To parallel park the driver needs to press the park assist button and use the appropriate indicator before the car passes the parking space. Sensors in the front bumper then scan the size of the parking space as the car is driven slowly past it.

A central control unit then tells the driver if the space is big enough. If there is sufficient space, the driver halts the car, selects reverse gear and lets go of the steering wheel. Park Assist will alert the driver to the intended reverse path in the multifunctional display, within the drivers field of vision. Park Assist then actively the driver by taking over the steering

Optional rear-view camera

The optional rear-view parking camera shows you a clear reversing image with easy-to-follow guidelines. The camera shows the area behind you Passat CC on the cars radio display or radio navigation system display. Superimposed graphic lines the guide you to the optimal steering lock so you can park quickly and easily.

So you’ll be able to maneuver quickly and easily, even into the most difficult parking space.

Optional Lane Assist

The Optional Lane Assist system is like a friendly co-driver. If it senses your Passat CC is straying out of the desired driving lane it gently intervenes to counter-steer the car back on line.

This innovative system makes driving safer and easier. The Lane Assist only intervenes if the driver is not indicating, so if you do want to change lanes and signal your intention, the system automatically recognizes this and switches off.

The lane-keeping assistant uses a camera to monitor the road markings and prevent your drifting out of your desired lane unintentionally. If the system detects that the car is leaving its lane, it helps it to stay on the right track by gently counter-steering it back.

The Lane Assist system is configured for driving on motorways and similar roads therefore only works from a speed of around 65km/h.
